Folklife Collection - Camp Parc Folklore

Folklife Collection - Folklore Project

In 1994, former Salisbury University student Lori Ward collected folk material. For this project, she chose to talk about her days at the camp with her church youth group; the Baptist Action Youth of Crisfield, Md. This week-long camp welcomed around 700 people from all over the Eastern states and was rich in folklore. In this paper, the student describes entire week with the different programs and traditions, and how the participants interact with each other. Some accounts of personal narratives are also narrated. She also mentions the existence of rumors and gossip about sexual activities around the camp.

Folklife Collection - The Folklore of Camping

In 1993, former Salisbury University student Elaine N. Gauthier collected folk material. As a camping enthusiast, she chose to base her semester project on this topic. Her collection explores different categories of campers ranging from R.V campers (motorhome) to backpackers, their motivations and the reason they chose a particular type of camping. Later in her paper, the student provides a detailed description of the lifestyle of backpackers and the purpose of each item they carry with them. She also recounts some of her own adventures.
